There’s something special about stepping away from the everyday and spending a day creating with good company. Our farmhouse retreats are designed to give you room to spread out, settle in, and enjoy uninterrupted time with your sewing or quilting projects.
Sewing & Quilting day retreats near Kansas City are currently available, with overnight retreats coming soon! As The Quilter’s Farmhouse grows, we're excited to expand our retreat experience to include cozy overnight stays and full weekend creative getaways.
Multi-Day Retreat - Anne of Green Gables Sew In
Bring your Anne of Green Gables project and settle in for a cozy weekend of sewing, storytelling, and a little time at Green Gables. Our spacious sewing area can accommodate up to 10 guests, with each guest having their own table and chair and plenty of room to spread out and create.
Throughout the sew-in, we’ll enjoy the iconic Anne of Green Gables movies together, with time for conversation about the story, characters, and how the movies compare to the beloved books. Whether you’ve been an Anne fan for years or are discovering Avonlea for the first time, it’s all meant to add a little extra charm and fun to our weekend together.
Choose the project that works for you! Anne of Green Gables quilt kits will be available for purchase for an additional fee, or you’re welcome to bring your own quilt or sewing project and simply enjoy working alongside everyone else. Bring your own sewing machine, or rent one of ours and arrive ready to sew.
You’ll have access to community ironing stations, felt-covered spaces for laying out quilt blocks, cutting tables, and common quilting supplies. The farmhouse kitchen will also be available throughout the weekend, with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee, tea, and bottled water.
And because any good visit to Green Gables should include something delicious, snacks and a hot lunch will be provided so you can settle in, keep stitching, watch the movies, and enjoy plenty of conversation around the sewing table.
Come make progress on a project, revisit a favorite story, meet a few kindred spirits, and spend a cozy weekend creating at The Quilter’s Farmhouse.

Please note: Retreat registration does not include overnight accommodations. If you’re traveling from outside the area, there are plenty of Airbnb rentals and hotels available in the Independence area.

Join us January 1st & 2nd for an Anne of Green Gables–inspired sew-in. Bring your Anne-inspired project—or whatever you have under your needle—and settle in for plenty of uninterrupted sewing time while we watch the Anne of Green Gables series together.
We’ll keep things warm and farmhouse-cozy with hot soup and fresh bread, giving you even more reason to stay awhile, slow down, and enjoy creating alongside fellow makers.
Your $50 registration includes both days of the sew-in, soup & bread, and plenty of cozy sewing time.
Want to make something especially for the occasion? Anne of Green Gables fabric by Riley Blake Designs will be available to pre-order so you can have the perfect fabric ready for your January project.

Make It a Weekend — Without Staying at the Farmhouse
Want more than one day to sew? Groups can reserve the farmhouse for one day or multiple consecutive days, giving you the feel of a full retreat while returning to local lodging each evening. There are hotels and vacation rental options nearby, making it easy to create your own multi-day sewing getaway without having to pack up your project each night.
Spend your days sewing, quilting, crafting and gathering at the farmhouse, then head back to your hotel or Airbnb for the evening. Return the next morning, pick up right where you left off, and enjoy more time creating together.
We’ll provide the farmhouse and sewing space—you make the retreat your own.
Finding The Quilter’s Farmhouse
Tucked back at the end of a gravel road in the heart of Jackson County, The Quilter’s Farmhouse is a little off the beaten path—and that’s part of the charm. When you turn off Whitney onto the gravel road, simply follow it all the way to the end. Look for The Quilter’s Farmhouse sign and the white picket fence—they’ll let you know you’ve arrived.
We’re just far enough away from the everyday rush to feel like a little escape, while still being conveniently located in the Independence area.

Due to limited seating and advance planning, all registrations are final and non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you’re welcome to transfer your registration to a friend, but we’re unable to offer refunds, credits, or exchanges for another event. If The Quilter’s Farmhouse cancels the event, a full refund will be provided.
